Over 100 healthcare professionals at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have been infected with the Corona virus in the Ashanti Region.
They are 100 nurses and 20 doctors at KATH who put their lives on the frontline against the fight of the disease.
Regional Chairman of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Paa kwesi Baidoo, a total of 2,275 cases have been confirmed l.
He said that though the number of infected nurses have not been collated, five nurses could be infected if a doctor contracts the virus.
Thus, the cases brings a total of over a 100 infections among healthcare workers.
He noted that a list of doctors nationwide were being compiled, and will therefore be made public.
“But for Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and my last count, they were almost twenty. If about 20 doctors are getting it, you can extrapolate the number of other health workers”
“I can not give figures because I am not responsible for collecting data, but it stands to reason that for each doctor, who will get it, there will be five nurses or healthcare workers who will also get it”, he added.
