National Sports Authority (NSA) Acting Head of Public Relations, Charles Obeng Amofah, has revealed that the NSA a still consulting when it comes to sports that have a case of being non-contact but are currently not in the list released today.
The NSA earlier today released a list of 14 disciplines that can resume their respective training sessions following President Nana Akufo-Addo’s directives issued on 31st May, 2020. However, competitive sporting events and games still remain suspended till further notice.
Mr. Amofah stated that the authority received a call from the Ghana Swimming Federation and are looking into their case and will need more time before adding any other sporting disciplines to what has already been released.
“We still doing further consultations, we had a call from Swimming Federation, they were saying theirs is also an individual sport but we are not to sure the nature of this COVID virus, whether it thrives in water. So, we need a little more time to be able to add other disciplines to what we have put out there.”
All activities with regards to team, contact sports including football, hockey and volley remain suspended till July 31, 2020.
