UHAS COVID-19 testing centre receives support 

The UHAS COVID-19 Testing Centre has received a cheque of Ghc10,000 to help support the fight against the Corona Virus in the Region. 

The check was donated by the Eastern, Oti and Volta Regional branch of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) to help stop the spread of the disease.

In addition to the cheque, items such as surgical masks, gallons of liquid soap, 15 rolls of paper towels, boxes of hand sanitizers, and 20 packs of bottled water were donated.

Others were 2 crates of Lucozade energy drink, 10 packs of bottled malt, Infrared thermometers, 20 loaves of bread and 100 locally produced face masks.

Making the donation, Vice-Chairperson of the AGI,  Lucy Tenkorang noted that the Association’s gesture was a contribution towards the containment of the virus.

She said that the pandemic has hit several community members and people in the region thus, a window’s mite to stop the spread.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa who received the items, thanked the AGI for making efforts in contributing more to ease the burden of health care professionals.

He noted that the items would be evenly distributed to the UHAS COVID-19 Testing Centre and among other Testing Centres across the region.

Present at the donation, was the Deputy Regional Minister, Rev Johnson Avuletey, Chief Director of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Felix Chachaa, Chief Executive Officer of the Ho Teaching Hospital, Director of Administration of the Ho Teaching Hospital, George Tetteh and Executive Member of the Branch, Dela Gbeve.

Background 

The Volta Region recorded its first nine cases of COVID-19 with one in Ho, Hohoe and Aflao. It also recorded 47 cases as of Sunday, May 24.

Currently, the Volta Region has a total of 102 active cases.
