Kotoko should sign Shafiu Mumuni – Godfred Yeboah

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender, Godfred Yeboah is urging the current board of directors of the club to go for Obuasi Ashantigold’s player Shafiu Mumuni ahead of their African campaign which start soon.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ashantigold, Emmanuel Frimpong, recently revealed that the striker is not part of their plans for next season. This leaves with no option for the player to leave the Miners and seek for a different club.

According to the former defender in an interview with Kumasi based Otec FM monitored by Talksafrica.com his former club could perform well in Africa if they augment their squad with quality players like Shafiu Mumuni.

He added that the board of directors should liaise with  His royal majesty Otumfuor Osei Tutu to lift the ban on signing players. He explained that the dream to Africa can only be feasible if the club is bent on bringing onboard players of that calibre before the transfer season ends.

“Asante Kotoko needs quality players to represent the club in Africa. The board should go to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and beg him {to lift the ban on signing of players} because the club needs the service of Shafiu Mumuni to help progress in the upcoming African campaign”

He also added that he is of the great conviction that the patron of the club will listen to the concerns of the board of directors when they approach him to speak on pertinent issues geared towards the development of the club.

“I hope something positive will pop up when the board meets the life patron of the club”
