Dzifa Gomashie calls for additional logistics at registration centres

Aspiring Parliamentary candidate for Ketu South Municipality, Dzifa Gomashie has asked the Electoral Commission to address challenges at registration centres in the municipality.

She said addressing logistical problems such as lack of canopies and lack of registration kits at the centre would avoid disenfranchisement.

She made the call when she visited registration centres in her constituency for the last phase of the registration exercise and to register for her identification card at Awakorme Community Centre.

The aspiring MP noted that the EC must put measures in place to ensure that every eligible resident gets to register.

She said “Creating shortages of materials at the centres will be a grand scheme to disenfranchise the people from participating in the December general elections”.

The Former Minister for Creative Arts added that “it’s in the light of these that I call on the EC to identify centres and provide the needed logistics to enable them to deliver uninterrupted service to the people so that no one is left out at the end of the day”.

The Ketu South Municipal EC Director, Kofi Sakyi Boampong said the office would not hesitate to deploy mobile teams to provide assistance at centres which needed help, indicating the office had on several occasions done that to release the pressure on officials at the centres.
