WAEC initiates investigation into Alleged Examiners list.

The West African Examinations Council has commenced investigation into the unfortunate circulation of a yet to be finalized version of Examiners for the 2020 “WASSCE” examination on social media.

In a press release dated August 19,2020 the West African Examination Council described the development as unfortunate and disturbing adding that, it has reported the matter to the Cyber Crime Department of the Ghana Police Service for due action to be taken.

According to the Council, investigations have also been initiated concerning those matters and “the council will continue to roll out measures to deal with these illegal activities in order to ensure fairness to all candidates and maintain the integrity of the examination.

WAEC assured fairness in their marking process, while apologising to all examiners whose contact details were circulated on social media.

“The Council wishes to reiterate its commitment to safeguarding the integrity and credibility of its examinations and certificates respectively,” the statement said.

WAEC also took the opportunity to address other rising matters including the circulation of examination questions on social media and the activities of rogue websites who are actively propagating fake exam questions on social media.
