John Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has bemoaned the Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu over his inability to investigate and prosecute officials of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that, his hand have being tied, thereby questioning the fairness and effectiveness of the office of the Special Prosecutor in handling corruption cases, during his encounter with electorates at Dzodze as part of his four-day tour of the Volta Region.
News gathered by Talks Africa Media from The Herald reveals that, the former President, John Dramani Mahama has alleged that, there are cases at the office of the special prosecutor but they have tied his hand, he can’t investigate them, they have stopped him, as long as he is an NPP person, he can’t do anything.
According to John Mahama when NDC comes to power, his government will investigate all outstanding corruption cases adding that, his government is not going to prosecute only NPP officials, but will caution their ministers and everybody because if one indulge in corruption, they won’t wait for another government to prosecute, they will prosecute the fellow themselves.
Meanwhile, there have been calls on Mr Amidu to investigate the PDS scandal as well as the Charles Bissue galamsey fraud investigation by Tiger Eye PI, the missing excavators, KelniGVG saga among other cases of corruption involving officials of the Akufo-Addo regime, but this is yet to happen.
