Chairman Wontumi, born Bernard Antwi Boasiako known to be Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reacted to his party’s Manifesto launched over the weekend at the Cape Coast University, NEC Hall, applauding key policies enshrined in the manifesto with emphasis on student loan without guarantor policy.
In an interview on an Accra-based TV Station GHOne, sighted by Talks Africa Media, Chairman Wontumi, said “the country cannot develop without education. So if the President and NPP have made a manifesto that they are going to help the tertiary people for them to get loans. It means that Ghana is going to join the developed countries.
Chairman Wontumi, adds; “He is saying you don’t need a guarantor, all you need is your national ID card.
To him “What perplexed me[Wontumi] was that he said after your national service you have a one-year-long period before you start paying the loan. It means that Ghana we are moving as a country to a developed country” the exact words of Chairman Wontumi.
“He also said that all the students or the workers who will get jobs they will also going to assist them to rent houses and stuff. A lot of people are suffering from money to rent an apartment. So if the government is helping you like this, I think abroad is coming to Ghana.” Chairman Wontumi further stressed.
