The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) revealed on 20th August 2020 that renovations were ongoing at the Achimota Oval with work beginning on the facilities cricket practice nets.
They revealed this on their official twitter handle saying “Works to renovate the Cricket Practice Nets have begun at the Achimota Oval.”
We spoke to Acting Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the GCA, Eugene King, who revealed that the GCA is taking advantage of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to fix up a number of facilities “It’s part of our programme line-up for the year and due to the COVID-19 we’ve decided we prefer to take advantage of the situation to renovate all these facilities so that when the season fully opens training will resume in a much better atmosphere and environment”
King also revealed that the association will not only be focusing on the Achimota Oval but will also be having renovations at other venues as well “It’s not only the Achimota Cricket Oval we also plan renovating that of the Obuasi Cricket Oval. We intend building others [cricket ovals] in the country. So it is not restricted to only the Achimota Cricket Oval.
