GCA hold training for 30 young girls

The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) earlier today 27th August 2020 held a training session for 30 young girls at the Akwamuman Snr High School in Kpong as part of their ‘This is Cricket’ module.

The 30 young girls who were from the Asuogyaman district in the Eastern Region went through theory, video sessions and demonstrations to help them get a better understanding of the game as the GCA looks to develop the sport in the region.

The GCA are looking to take advantage of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and are currently renovating the Achimota Cricket Oval and the training also looks to be part of their plans to develop the sport during these trying times.

“It’s part of our programme line-up for the year and due to the COVID-19 we’ve decided we prefer to take advantage of the situation to renovate all these facilities so that when the season fully opens training will resume in a much better atmosphere and environment” Acting Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the GCA, Eugene King, said in an interview with TalksAfrica.

The ‘This is Cricket’ module is a program that seeks to provide basic knowledge on the rudiments of the game.
