Ligue 2 side Amiens SC have announced the return of Ghanaian centre-back, Nicholas Opoku, on-loan from Serie A side Udinese for the 2020/2021 season.
This will be Opoku’s second loan spell at the French club having spent the 2019/2020 season at the Stade de la Licorne making 7 appearances for Les Licornes.
According to reports, Amiens SC had an option to buy the Ghanaian for €4.5m at the end of his first loan spell but following their relegation to Ligue 2 the 23-year-old refused to accept to join the Picardy side permanently.
Reports from L’Équipe, revealed that Ligue 1 outfit FC Metz were in negotiations to sign the Ghanaian international seeing him as the perfect replacement for centre-back Mamadou Fofana who expected to leave the club during this window, but it seems Amiens SC won out.
Opoku made Ghana senior national team Head Coach, CK Akonnor’s, first list for the AFCON qualifiers before COVID-19 enforced a break.
