Two persons died after sustaining gunshot at Abossey Okai during yesterday’s Homowo customary rites.

According to the Kaneshie Divisional Police the incident transpired when the chief and people of Abossey Okai organised their Homowo festival without given the police heads up.

The police revealed that while some customary rites were being performed as part of the celebration, gunshots were heard outside and which three persons sustained injuries.

The victims were rushed to the Sukura Community Hospital and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital but the Hospital authorities confirmed 2 of them had died while receiving treatment.

The other victim who sustained an injury on his right arm has been treated and discharged.

The police has indicated that,investigations is ongoing to establish whether the shootings had anything to do with the festival.

They are poised to trace, identify and arrest the suspects of the crime.
