Tema Youth President, Wilfred Osei Kwaku ‘Palmer’, has released a statement following the Court of Arbitration for Sports’ (CAS) decision to dismiss his appeal to declare the previous Ghana Football Association (GFA) elections null and void.
CAS finally announced the verdict for the much-awaited case today 2nd September 2020 dismissing the Tema Youth President’s appeal and ordering him to bear the cost of the yet to be determined arbitration.
The experienced football administrator in the statement said although he has issues with the decision, he is happy that legal tussle has come to an end saying “I am gratified by the fact that, this long legal tussle has finally come to an end.”
“Even though I have issues against the main grounds for the delivery of the final verdict, I have no other alternative than to accept it in good faith and move on in life. At the end of the day, it is victory for Ghana football.”
Palmer also thanked his supporters who have backed him throughout the 11-month process “Thank you all for the support offered me in diverse ways during the past eleven (11) months.” The statement read
Palmer had been seeking justice at sports highest court for the past 11 months ever since he was disqualified (on two counts which include the failure to pay transfer commission to the GFA as well as failing an integrity test) by the FIFA appointed Normalisation Committee (NC) from running in the 2019 GFA Presidential elections.
