TVET will be free at all levels-Joshua Alabi

Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra Professor Joshua Alabi has affirm that the Technical and Vocational Education will be free at all levels.

This comes after the flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama promised to make TVET an essential part in shaping the countries educational sector when voted into power in the December elections.

According to Professor Alabi, there are quite a huge number of Ghanaians who are bent on acquiring skills through technical and vocational education from the secondary to the Tertiary levels but shy away due to the cost involved.

He said a future NDC government will absorb the cost and also provide these young ones with the necessary tools and equipment to start with work.

“there are different tiers of this, some want to go into the master craftsman but sometimes the fees charged pushes them away so the NDC  government will pay for them and provide them with the required tools to start work”he said

He also stated that, the NDC will build more technical schools in all districts across the country to enroll more of these craft-men and other Ghanaians interested in acquring skills.

“we will build more technical schools in the district for those interested in going in technical education”he added

He finally said revealed that,Technical Universities will benefit from this policy  from the diploma level to other levels.

Former president John Dramani Mahama has indicated that this will form part of his party’s programme for the sector which he asserted are “comprehensive and far-reaching.”
