National Concerned Spare Parts Dealers Association has warned the Nana Akufo-Addo led Goverment to scrap off 35% import duty or face their wrath.

According to a Press Statement issued by the Association, today September 15, 2020 and sighted by Talks Africa Media, the National Concerned Spare Parts Dealers are calling on the government to as matter of urgency scrap off the 35% import duty on automobile and spare parts which is proposed to kick start coming November.

The group asserted that, the increment will negatively affect importers and local businesses such as Mechanics, Sprayers, Key Programmers, Welders among other artisans.

“We are given the government up to the end of September to scrap the tax or we will advise ourselves.” The group warned.

“We are challenging the President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo to present the Act to parliament for amendment before they recess if indeed what he has been saying recently about the 35% increment and the ban is true.”

To the association, the welfare of its members is the priority, further reiterating that, government within the next two weeks should scrap off the 35% tax increment on importation of salvage vehicles.

Meanwhile on the ban of importation of Overaged and salvaged motor vehicles, the group said they have already declared our stands not been in support to that end, the government should come clear as to whether or not it’s been cancelled or postponed.
