Western Togoland group seals off entry routes to Volta Region

Some men suspected to be Members of secessionist group, Homeland Study Foundation, also known as Western Togoland have blocked major roads into the Volta Region.

Talksafrica.com understands that most passengers and motorists plying the Juapong stretch and others have been left stranded due to the development.

Reports coming in indicates that, military personel from Michel camp has taken over the situation to ease the standoff.

Police reports say commuters in and out of Accra – Ho – Aveyime – Adidome – Mepe – Akuse – sogakope – Aflao are likely to experience traffic due to the security operations underway in those areas.

“Anybody travelling on any of these roads should exercise caution,” a statement from the Police said.

This comes on the heels of similar sit`uation where members of the secessionist group mounted signposts with the inscription ‘Welcome to Western Togoland, Stay Safe’ at Akorley and Akuse in the Eastern Region.
