Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Jean Mensah has said that ,the two committees set up to go through the documents submitted by Presidential aspirants will do a transparent job.
The EC has set up a Technical and I.T committees to determine whether the aspirants meet the requirement to contest the position of President of the Republic of Ghana.
The committees are also to see to the genuineness of their voter ID cards.
Speaking to the media,Madam Jean Mensah revealed that the committees will work in strict accordance with the law.
She also said that, the committees have undergone training and orientation in relation to their task.
“Both teams have been provided adequate training and orientation to carry out their functions as prescribed by law. The guiding principle for both teams is clear, they are both to operate in the confines of the law. They are not to exercise discretion in the matter, above all, they have been tasked to be fair and firm in executing their duties. We have no doubt that the process will be transparent, fair, and peaceful.”She said
The Electoral Commission of Ghana opened the filing of nominations for all aspirants in the upcoming December 7 general elections on Monday, October 5,2020 and it is expected to end on Friday October 9,2020.
