Black Stars bounce back!

The senior national football team, the Black Stars, bounced back from their 3-0 defeat to Mali on Saturday 10th October 2020 to defeat Asian champions Qatar 5-1 tonight at the Mardan Sports Complex in Turkey.

Black Stars Head Coach C.K Akonnor made 5 changes to the side that faced Mali on Saturday with goalkeeper Razak Abalora has been given the chance to start in the post ahead of Lawrence Ati-Zigi, youngster Benson Annan played at right-back, Joseph Aidoo partnered Alexander Djiku in the centre of defence.

Baba Iddrisu replaced Bernard Mensah in heart of midfield while Saudi Arabia-based winger Samuel Owusu making it into the first eleven.

Brentford winger Tariqe Fosu opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after chancing on a loose ball in the Qatari defence following a Jordan Ayew strike. Almoez Ali would however level the score before the break with a beautiful finish lobbing goalkeeper Abalora.

The Stars would, however, come back strongly in the second half. Black Stars captain Andre Ayew would put the Black Stars 2-1 up in the 63rd minute before Samuel Owusu would get Ghana’s third. Ayew would then get a brace in the 83rd minute and Caleb Ekuban would score the Black Stars’ final and 5th goal in the 87th minute.
