She was born on 20th October, 1964.
She hails from Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.
She obtained her O level at Labone Senior High School in Accra.
She proceeded to Mfantsiman Shs for her Sixth form education.
She furthered her education at the University of Ghana and the Ghana School Of Law where she obtained an LLB.
In 1990, she was called to the Bar.
She holds a certificate in Government Integrity from the International Law Institute Washington DC.
She holds a Project Management and Planning Certificate from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
She Obtained Masters in Conflict, Peace and Security at Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
She worked for 10 years as an Associate at Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co., Legal
Practitioners and Notaries Public.
From Sept 2005 to May 2008, she was the acting Managing Director, Western Telesystems (Westel).
She is the first female CEO of a Telecoms company in Ghana
From April 2008 to January 2009, she was the Corporate and External Affairs Director, ZAIN Ghana( Now Airtel)
She also served as a director for Vodafone Ghana.
She was the former president of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (Fida Ghana) and Africa Regional Vice President of Fida International.
She is member of African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), Ghana.
She served as a Managing Consultant, N. U. Consult Legal, Governance and Gender Consultants.
In 2012, she was first elected as the member of parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region on the ticket of the Npp.
She was re-elected in 2016.
In the run-up to the December 7, 2016 elections, she served as the Chairperson for the Social Development Sector Committee – a committee responsible for the development of policy interventions for women, children, persons with disability, the aged and all social intervention policies and programs for the NPP manifesto 2016.
In 2017, President Akufo-Addo appointed her as the Minister for Communications.
She is the first Ghanaian woman to serve as the Minister for communications.
She’s one of the most hardworking ministers of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia Government.
She was recently enstooled as the development queen (Nkosuohemaa) of Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region.
She is married to a UK based Ghanaian opthalmologist, Dr Sam Ekuful, with one child.
