Queen mother of Juakyirem in the Elmina Traditional Area and Organizer of the Village Market Exhibition,Nana Tseasewaa III is entreating Ghanaians to aid in promoting locally made goods.
The Queen mother made these assertions at the first edition of the Village Market exhibition over the weekend at the forecourt of the East Legon National Vocational Training Institute.
According to her,the dream to start the exhibition was influenced by the absence of market in the East Legon vicinity and support entrepreneurs.
“I realized that there is no market at East Legon so I decided to create something for residents”
She further indicated that, Graduands from the National Vocational Training Institute are discouraged in their quest to exhibit their produce after their stay in school due to inadequate funds.
“I also saw that, graduands of NVTI cannot exhibit and expand their products due to lack of funds”
She urged the government to support entrepreneurs and the private sector to expand as she believes that could be a step in the right direction to keep Ghana’s economy on track.
Some exhibitors at the event also expressed their delight in the initiative.
Lucy,a lady into craft lauded the idea of Nana Tseaswaa III and called on the Ghanaian entrepreneurs who could help young ones do same.
She indicated that,it’s been a good experience and she wish more of this could be replicated across the nation.
“Let keep supporting our own and patronise our products,other older entrepreneurs should help us the young folks to expand our businesses”
Also, Emmanuel a guy into electrical appliances also intimated that Ghanaian goods are not inferior but quality which needs investment.
He also added that technical and vocational education is the way to go.
The second edition of the Village Market Exhibition is expected to be held next month on November 28,2020.
