The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have appointed top Ghanaian referee, Daniel Nii Laryea, to officiate next month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Cape Verde and Rwanda on 13th November 2020.

Laryea will lead a quartet of Ghanaian referees appointed for the game, scheduled for the Estádio da Várzea in Praia, Cape Verde. They are; Kwasi Acheampong Brobbey (Assistant I), Paul Kodjo Atimaka (Assistant II) and Adaari Abdul Latif (Fourth official).

Mohamed Abdatt Bilal from Mauritania will serve as the Match Commissioner for the game.

Laryea who is Ghana’s youngest ever referee to officiate a Ghana Premier League (GPL) match aged just 24 (during the 2013/2014 season) has had an impressive career which has seen him earn several opportunities to officiate in CAF-organised competitions including the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN), 2017 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations as well as the 2017 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations.

Back in 2019, the 33-year-old centre referee was preliminarily selected by CAF to officiate the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Egypt but was sadly left out of the final list of match officials selected for the 32nd edition of the competition.

The Blue Sharks of Cape Verde are set to take on the Amavubi of Rwanda in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers twice in the space of 5 days with the second leg to take place on 17th November 2020 at the Nyamirambo Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda.
