Chinese Super League (CSL) side Jiangsu Suning have made it to the finals of the competition after defeating rivals Shanghai SIPG 2-1 in the second leg yesterday 2nd November 2020 to secure a 3-2 aggregate win.
Ghana’s Mubarak Wakaso was in action for the Nanjing-based club playing 46 minutes of the game before being replaced by Croatian forward Ivan Santini as Jiangsu Suning came from behind to claim victory at Suzhou City Stadium.
The combative midfielder expressed his excitement to make the final of the competition taking immediately to Twitter after the game stating “To final,”
Wakaso has been named in Black Stars Head Coach, CK Akonnor’s recent 23-man squad to face Sudan in a 2021 AFCON Qualifier double-header with the Ghanaian tactician saying of his decision to include the 30-year-old.
“For him, I spoke to him when we were going to Antalya. His time is up to join us and received that message in a very good manner and he’s here again to support the team with his rich experience.”
Yang Siyuan opened the scoring for Shanghai SIPG in the 25th minute before Wu Xi equalised for the visitors in the 78th minute.
The game was forced to extra time after the first leg ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Luo Jing bagged the match-winner for Jiangsu Suning in the 107th minute.
Jiangsu Suning is set to face Guangzhou Evergrande in the finals of the Chinese Super League.
