The Samira Bawumia Literature Prize has announced that 30 finalists of the 2020 literature prize.
The finalists who are 10 in each of the three categories, namely, Poetry, Short Fiction and Non-Fiction worked on the theme “Everyday Ghanaian Life”.
The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, who announced the winners on her Instagram page yesterday said the Prize is indeed a launchpad for aspiring Ghanaian writers to share their art with the world.
The winners in all the categories will be officially announced on Wednesday, 22nd, 2020 by the Second Lady Samira Bawumia.
The initiative is part of Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects, which seeks to champion the course of developing and supporting homebred writing talents, through publishing opportunities, cash prizes, as well as publicity across print, radio and digital channels.
The prizes for the winners of each category include GHS5,000 cash prize, a laptop and a feature in the winners’ Anthology and highly commended entries will also go away GHS2,000.
The Prize which opened submissions on Thursday, April 23, 2020, expected submissions for the creative writings of the award categories from writers between the ages of 15 and 25 years.
The Samira Bawumia Literature Prize submissions were opened for two weeks and ended on Friday, May 8, 2020.
The Samira Bawumia Literature Prize is an annual literary prize for the best short fiction, poetry and non-fiction prose by young Ghanaians living in Ghana.
