Akufo-Addo commissions AstroTurf for UPSA

President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday 4th September 2020 commissioned an astroturf facility for the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA).

The 500-seater astroturf project also comprises spectator stands (including a VIP seating area), changing rooms, washroom facilities, storage space, floodlighting and offices for the University’s Sports Directorate.

The stadium which cost ¢3,888,016 was constructed by Wembley Sports Construction which is a company that specializes in the construction of artificial turfs in the country.

In a tweet, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting sports in the country “Government, through the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, is committed to promoting sports in our schools and is fully supportive of corporate initiatives in this direction.”
