Congolese football giants AS Vita yesterday 1st July 2020 elected the club’s first-ever female president, Bestine Kazadi Di Tabala, to replace the outgoing Gabriel Amisi who ended his 13-year stint at the club two months ago.
57-year-old Bestine who is a legal practitioner, and the daughter of a former president of Vita Club Sage Council, the late Pierre Kazadi Tshishishi, defeated her opponent Diomi Ndongala securing 38 of the 72 votes to Diomi’s 32.
CAF President Ahmad Ahmad congratulated the Belgian-born Congolese barrister on Twitter wishing her the best in her endeavour.
“Congratulations @BestineKazadi for your election to the Presidency of @AsVitaOfficiel ! I am sure that you will be very successful in your action in favor of #sport African, and #football in particular !”
A member of the Kinshasa Bar Association, Bestine is the first woman President of the Rotary Club Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the first woman “Major Donor in the Democratic Republic of Congo for the global program Rotarian. “Polo +”.
She now becomes the first woman to pilot the affairs of one of the country’s biggest football clubs and has the unenviable task of leading the 14 times Linafoot Champions and winners of the Congolese Cup on nine occasions to even greater heights.
