Ashanti Gold SC defender, Atta Kusi, has denied reports that he has been released by the Ghana Premier League (GPL) giants.
Kusi revealed this on Kumasi-based OtecFM saying “There is no truth in those speculations, I still have a contract with AshGold, which I was informed by the club to come and do my COVID-19 test, so I was really surprised when I heard the news in the media,”
“The team manager denied and told me that I wouldn’t have been called for the COVID-19 test if I’ve been released as being reported in the media. As we speak, I’m in Obuasi preparing for training,” he added.
Reports on Thursday 13th August 2020 stated that the 27-year-old along with 3 other players namely Benedict Wobenu, Stephen Owusu Banahene and Isaac Quansah had mutually terminated their contracts with the Miners after failing to impress during the 2019/2020 season and were now free to move to any club of their choice.
Kusi struggled for game time during the now truncated 2019/2020 Ghana football season, making only 2 appearances for the Miners.
