The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Employers Association Alex Frimpong has stated that Government is yet to disclose the categories of people who will benefit from the National Unemployment Insurance Scheme to be rolled out in the coming days.
In an interview, Mr. Frimpong stated the Employers Association is yet to be engaged on this initiative by Government.
“I think the policy has been very clear and distinct, we are yet to really engage in dialogue with labour and Government to know what exactly are the details,” he said.
Speaking on how the implementation is going to be, Mr. Frimpong stated some indicators which might be considered in defining who the beneficiaries of this initiative will be.
“I think that the world over, especially places where the employment insurance scheme are being implemented, I think Government or whatever institution that is mandated to implement that must have structures and systems that identify persons who are likely to benefit, in which organisations were they working, what was their contribution, were they, taxpaying employees, these are fundamentals, do they have social security numbers, which organisations did they work for because to fall out it means that you were working, these are some of the structures that must be put in place” he noted.
