Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the senior national men’s football team, the Black Stars, have maintained their 46th world ranking and 6th African ranking in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola ranking for the month of September.

The Black Stars’ last appearances came back in November 2019 with a 2-0 win over South Africa and a 1-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers.

However, this could soon change as the 4-time African champions are expected to return to action, in November under new boss C.K Akonnor as they face Sudan, but this is subject to the approval of the resumption dates for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers and the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Ghana is however expected to engage in international friendly matches next month as part of preparations for their qualifying matches.
