Contractors of the new Kejetia market, Contracta Construction UK Limited, has donated ventilators to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The machines known as Savina 300 ventilarors, estimated to a cost of 60,000 Euros, will manage COVID-19 patients admitted to the hospital.
The donation was a joint one as GOIL Company also donated a ventilator at a cost of GHC150,000.00.
Presenting the items, Project Director of Contracta Limited, Jorge Taveres de Almeida, noted that the gesture was part of the responsibilities of corporate bodies that prioritizes the health and wellbeing of the people.
He said “the gesture was part of the corporate social responsibilities of respective companies towards helping to effectively manage and treat COVID-19 patients”.
Meanwhile Middle Belt Zonal Manager for GOIL, Augustine Boateng cautioned and advised the hospital to work tirelessly to treat the infected patients.
Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso mentioned that KATH due to its unique location, patients who are severely ill were transferred to the same hospital for treatment.
He again mentioned that the Child and Maternity unit of the hospital that had been abandoned, would soon be completed to ease congestion.
He stressed the need for efficient and robust ventilators to help manage highy infectious diseases including COVID-19.
He thanked donors for contributing to quality healthcare and called on other organisations to support the hospital, to provide good access to healthcare to the people.
