Five substitutes to be maintained next season – IFAB

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) have announced following a meeting that 5 substitutes will be allowed next season. However, each competition will be free to decide whether they want to use the additional substitutes.

Following the restart to football, many competitions have allowed their team a maximum of 5 substitutions per game alongside other measures to keep their players fit and IFAB in a statement seems ready to allow the measure to continue “The impact on player welfare is likely to continue into 2021” IFAB said in a statement.
