The Executive Council (EC) of the Greater Accra Football Association (GARFA) met on Wednesday, 23rd September 2020. The meeting was to discuss the disbursement of the FIFA Stimulus Package.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), has disbursed an amount of $4000 (GH₵23,000) to all Regional Football Association (RFA). The RFAs will use the funds to support themselves during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The GARFA have decided to utilize the funds to develop football in the region after vowing to aid its members.
The EC members have also decided to enhance the game at the district level (i.e. juvenile and 3rd division football). Which will see all the 12 districts receive a share of the funds.
Furthermore, there is an arrangement to empower the Division 2 clubs as they are to benefit from the funds through administrative services.
The EC has included the end of year budget in regards to the funds, which will take care of the budget association’s for the new season.
In a show of transparency, back in July 2020, the GFA revealed how it will be distributing the $1.8 million FIFA & CAF COVID-19 relief fund. The association revealed that the GPL, DOL and the WPL will recieve a total of $790,000.
The GFA also revealed it will pay the outstanding debts owed to referees and the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG).
FIFA announced $1.5 billion COVID-19 relief plan to help it’s Member Associations (MA) through the ongoing crisis. Each association will receive $1 million, with an additional $500,000 grant specifically for women’s football.
CAF also announced that the federation’s 54 MAs will recieve a total of $10.8 Million. Each MA will receive $300,000 from the fund.
