The Ghana Education Service has extended its deepest condolence to the family of a deceased final year student of the Methodist Girls Senior High School at Mamfe, Akuapem in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
The final year student, Cindy Aku Sika Addo, a General Arts 4A student was said to have been ill, when her friends detected it, and sent her to the hospital.
The GES in a statement signed by Head of Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said “Management of Ghana Education Service has learnt with shock the death of a final year student, Ms Cindy Aku Sika Addo of General Arts 4A of the Methodist Girls Senior High School (MEGHIS) at Mamfe, Akuapem”.
According to the statement, the deceased was rushed to Tetteh Quarshie hospital at Mampong around 11 pm on Thursday, July 16, 2020, when her friends detected that she was not well.
It said “The sad event occurred on Friday, 17th July 2020. Management of the school quickly rushed Cindy to Tetteh Quarshie hospital at Mampong around 11 pm on Thursday 16th July 2020 when her friends detected she was not well”.
The statement further said Cindy’s parents were informed and they went to the hospital, but the deceased was later transferred to the Koforidua Regional Hospital “where she unfortunately passed on the next day on Friday 17th July 2020”.
The GES has however assured the family of support for a befitting burial to the deceased.
