Ghana Internet Governance Forum slated for July 17


The Ghana Domain Name Registry and the Internet Society Ghana Chapter will hold the Ghana Internet Governance Forum (Ghana IGF) on July 17, 2020 under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications.

A statement issued by the Society on Friday, stated that the Forum would be on the theme, “Building a Resilient, Inclusive and Safer Internet in Ghana during Pandemics”.

The event would be hosted virtually via Zoom for diverse stakeholders from the technical and non-technical community to participate and discuss developments and opportunities identified in Ghana’s internet landscape.

Over 100 participant will converge online from July 15,16 and 17 for the forum. Speakers will be from all sector including government officials, industry players and reps from manufacturing industries.

Topics to be discussed include: Multi-Stakeholder approaches to Internet governance in theory and practice, Internet and e-Government Solutions during Pandemics, and Combating Cyber Crimes in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Republic of Ghana and Community Network and Digital Inclusion.

The Ghana Internet Governance Forum is a forum that seeks to bring all stakeholders together to discuss issues identified in Ghana’s internet landscape and how to tackle them.
Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Minister of Communication, would be the Special Guest of Honour.This is an initiative supervised by The Ministry of Communications in collaboration with the Internet Society (ISOC), Ghana Chapter. The Ministry of Communications, as the sector ministry responsible for information and communication technology (ICT), is committed to developing and improving Internet access, cost and therefore encourages all stakeholders to participate in the Forum
