The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Volta Region Resource Group has said the government is focused on pursuing a civilised democratic culture to promote the development of the country.
The group also said the party will work hard to prevent political intolerance thus, ensuring the free flow of information that enables objective analysis of issues.
The comments were made at a press conference yesterday, after a just-ended tour of registration centres in the 18 constituencies in the Volta Region.
The aim of the press conference was to react to claims of harassment and intimidation of citizens in the region made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Organised by the NPP Volta Region Resource Group, Secretary to the Group, King David Akpabli, said the NDC was only crying wolf in their alarmist claims of a military invasion of the region.
Ho noted that throughout the tour, not even once did the group see any soldiers at any of the registration centres, and that, party agents of both NPP and NDC were rather at all the registration centres.
He, therefore, described the NDC’s claims of intimidation and harassment as very reprehensible which sought to create fear and panic in the country.
The group, therefore, called out to the NDC to bow their heads in shame for bringing the country’s cherished democracy into disrepute.
He assured the people, that the NPP government ensured that works on Denu-Aflao road and the Eastern Corridor road among others would be completed for the people of the Volta Region.
The group has however expressed satisfaction with the Electoral Commission’s preparedness and conduct of the ongoing registration exercise.
