Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has noted that it is going to embark on mass testing for its staffs at the head office in Accra from Thursday.
This decision was made following reports that one worker tested positive to the Coronavirus after coming into close contact with a COVID-19 patient. The worker was said to have sought permission to go for a test after complaining of ill-health last week.
According to the Head of Public Affairs at GRIDCo Ebenezer Amankwaah, immediately he was given permission to go for the test, the worker isolated himself to prevent the likelihood of spreading the disease.
However, he later officially informed the Company that he tested positive after his results were provided.
Ebenezer Amankwaah stated that management consulted the National Covid-19 Management Team for an immediate test to be run on all staff to ensure their safety.
“the test will not be a one day exercise, as it will continue until the close-to-300 members of staff are all tested we are sure of everyone’s safety,” he said.
Meanwhile, firms like the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and Ministry of Finance have shut down their offices for disinfection and mass testing respectively after some staff tested positive and are currently working from home.
