GTF celebrate 1st anniversary of the Ghana Tennis Hall of Fame


The Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) and Tennis Foundation Ghana (TFG) are celebrating the first anniversary of the country’s first-ever Tennis Hall of Fame Induction ceremony which was held on 14th August 2020 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The day saw 29 Ghanaian tennis legends who distinguished themselves from 1957 to 1980 honoured by the GTF for their dedicated service in the sport over the years, this included Anthony Dove, Narh Tetteh, Odartey Annan, Paul Dowuona, Peter Annan, Daniel Amanor, John Ampah, Isaac Lartey, Abraham Nortei Owuo, Victoria Dowuona and Naa Kwarley Quartey among others.


A joint statement released by the GTF and TFG stated that 14th August would be remembered as a special day in the Ghana tennis community “August 14th has now become a day all stakeholders and well-wishers of Ghana Tennis will look forward to. It is on this day that all those who have toiled for our sport to bring glory and honour to Ghana look forward to being honoured.” the statement read

The statement also revealed that the next class of inductees will cover the period from 1981 to 2000 and could be held on 14th August 2021 “It is our hope that August 14th 2021 will see the induction of the Class of 2021 which will cover the period from 1981 to 2000.”
