The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) is considering discussing the resumption of its Poomsae (form) training which is non-contact with the National Sports Authority (NSA).
This was revealed by the federation’s Public Relations Officier (PRO), Davis Nii Attuquaye Clottey, in an exclusive interview with Talks Africa Media.
“We have not had discussions with the NSA to bring us back for Poomsae just because we mostly look at the Kyorugi that is the sparring, but we are considering.”
“Just after the meeting on Thursday, the President [Frederick Lartey Out], myself and the General Secretary [Adnan Odartey Lamptey] we were considering how we can even talk to the NSA to allow us to also do our Poomsae training, but then we asked ourselves how very relevant will it be, our major focus is not there because African Games 2023 is coming and we need to start preparing, and that preparation is not Poomsae” he further stated.
The GTF held a meeting with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea last week Thursday 11th June 2020 where it was revealed that the Korean Government has clamped on all sporting activities and as such would be difficult for the embassy to raise funds to support the federation.
