A security expert Adams Bonaa is calling for the dismissal of the member of parliament for Awutu Senya East constituency, Hawa Koomson for firing a gun at the registration centre in Kasoa municipality.
According to Mr. Bonaa, the attitude portrayed by the MP doesn’t show respect she is not fit to be an MP.
“She didn’t act as a leader and what she did was completely wrong, she should have thought about the lives of the civilians and not to have shot a gun as a first option, I think she was under the influence of some drugs or maybe,” he said.
Mr. Bonaa said, “she should be dismissed and dealt with, by arresting and prosecuting her, I am calling that by 12 noon today she should be called to order and take her firearm license, it’s not a right to carry a gun in Ghana, it’s a privilege and that privilege can be taken away from you anytime”.
Speaking on the impact of what happened on the upcoming elections, Mr. Bonaa said it could trigger into something very serious if care is not taken.
“This has the tendency of bringing misunderstanding and chaos in Ghana if we don’t take care, we need to cut off all these activities before it is too late”.
Responding to a question on who has the mandate to sign or issue a license to an individual to hold a gun, Mr. Bonaa said “Hon. Ambrose Derry, Interior Minister is the only person who has that right and not any other person”.
