The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) is set to meet today 15th July 2020 to prepare for the 136th IOC Session, which will take place two days later, on Friday 17th July 2020.
The Executive Board also agreed to meet virtually every month while the pandemic was ongoing. Meeting back in 10th June, and will meet again tonight to prepare for the IOC Session, and on 22nd July 2020, to discuss the results of the Session.
The IOC Session is the general meeting of the members of the IOC. It is the supreme organ of the IOC. The Session adopts, modifies and interprets the Olympic Charter and its decisions are final.
Tokyo was due to host the Session before this year’s Olympics but the Games were pushed back to 2021 due to the spread of COVID19. The IOC Session is always held before an Olympic Games so another meeting would be expected in the Japanese capital before the re-arranged Tokyo 2020.
