John Dumelo Campaign team for election 2020 fumes over act of violence in Ayawaso West Wuogon

 

The John Dumelo Campaign Team in Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency for the 2020 general election has registered their displeasure at the rate at which registration centres in the constituency have been characterized by violence perpetrated by thugs and hooligans.

In a press release signed and issued by the spokesperson for the John Dumelo for MP 2020 team, Mr. Benjamin Madugu Avornyotse and sighted by Talksafrica.com, according to the team, the Ayawaso West Wuogon has once again become a scene of violence and assault alleging that, there have been persistent reports to the Police of physical abuse netted out to registration agents but no response to bring perpetrators to book.

According to the press release, sympathizers of the NDC have observed indecent persons perceived to be supporters of John Dumelo for MP 2020 campaign, adding that, within the course of the ongoing registration, agents of NDC have been brutalized often on the presence of the police official.

The John Dumelo Campaign 2020 team cited painful incident that took place during the Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election which led to people being assaulted in the constituency rendering some of them paralyzed.

“It is a national shame that the only crime of constitutents that day was their desire to exercise their voting franchise leading to the maming and violence the whole nation witnessed.” The released emphasized.

“Residents of the constituency will not forget the negative attention the happening of the day as they played out in a government communique of inquiry” the team opined.

The campaigns team further stressed that, every Ghanaian is aware of the recommendation and the refusal government to act and allow the full rigors of the law to deal with individuals found to have inflicted violence on innocent citizens.

The team’s conclusion remarks, admonished that, they wishes to serve notice to the sitting MP, Madam Lydia Alhassan that it is her duty to promote peace and serenity in the constituency, adding that, her campaign, that is bound to fail, must not be seen to tacitly approve and profit from the violence being perpetrated on the innocent constituents of Ayawaso West Wuogon in the ongoing registration exercise,

“Should she continue to remain indifferent to the concerns raised that she has been made aware of severally, alternative reliefs within the confines of the law will be sought by the Campaign team to ensure protection of all constituents from act of thuggery and hooligans” the team fumed.
