Just one or two cases doesn’t warrant closure of academic activities – Education Ministry PRO

The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education Ekow Vincent Assafuah has stated that it will not be advisable for the Government to shut down school over just a few cases recorded after school resumed.

In an interview with him, he noted that political opposition parties and individuals who are calling for that are just not being realistic.

“We cannot just close down a school of just about two cases or incidents recorded in just a few schools, we have over 700 senior schools in the country and the cases we have recorded so far taking into consideration senior high schools does not call for any alarm for us to close down the school,” he said.

Meanwhile, the MP for Ningo-Prampram Sam George has also added his voice to the call on closing down the school to allow students back.

“I will rather loose a grade than dig a grave, a lot of people are complaining and most parents want their wards to even come back home after the incident at KNUST SHS, Nigeria and other countries have even suspended WASSCE and other academic activities how much more we” he stated.

A large number of the public are calling on the government to reconsider its decision to call off academic activities because the safety the government promised their wards is nothing to write home about.
