MoYS makes clarification on support given to Kotoko & AshGold

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) have released a statement dated 24th September 2020 to make a clarification regarding the support the Ministry gave both Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold SC during their 2019/2020 CAF Inter-Club campaign.

Reports came out that both clubs had recieved an amount totalling $350,000 (Kotoko-$200,000 & AshGold-$150,000) but the MoYS has revealed that although the clubs were to recieve those amounts, it was on the condition that they make it into the Group Stage of their various CAF Inter Club competitions, which both failed to achieve.

The Ministry however revealed that the Porcupine Warriors did recieve $150,000 when they made it to the Group Stage of the CAF Confederation Cup during the 2018/2019 season and MoYS has assured both the clubs and Ghanaian that they still plan on supporting clubs who make it into CAF Inter-Club competitions.

Here is the statement by the Ministry;
