Nigeria U-15 coach Danladi Nasidi passes away


Well-known Nigerian coach, Danladi Nasidi, passed away on Wednesday 12th August 2020 in Minna, Niger state after battling with a short illness.

Danladi’s death was announced by his former team the Niger Tornadoes in a press release which stated: “The death has occurred of Veteran Coach Danladi Abubakar Nasidi (Alala) he died in the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness.”

A cause of death was not revealed but reports indicate that the former assistant coach of the senior national Nigerian women’s team the Super Falcons had serious health issues before he passed on.

The experienced tactician served as Head Coach of the Nigerian national U-15 team till his passing. His resume also includes being the assistant coach of the Super Falcons during the 1999 FIFA Women World Cup, He also coached Stationery Stores FC rescuing them from relegation back in 1994, managed the Niger Tornadoes on several occasions and held the Gabon national team’s Head Coach job back in 1986.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) took social media to mourn the experienced manager’s passing saying “We are sad to hear of the passing of National U15 Coach, Danladi Nasidi this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the football fraternity in Nigeria. May his soul rest in peace.”

Chairman of Niger Tornadoes FC, Hon. Adamu Aliyu, also spoke saying the tactician had distinguished himself in his chosen profession, doing the State proud in the process, describing his death as a great loss not only to the family but the State and Nigeria as a whole.

2020 has been a tragic year for Nigeria football community with the death of notable personalities like the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Board member, Henrietta Ukaigwe, and former Nigeria National League (NNL) Chairman, Hon. Chidi Offor Okenwa.
