Nigeria man dies after being shot by the police



A Nigerian, Walter Billions, has been shot dead by a police officer at Kasoa after threatening harm to some police officers who were deployed to restore calm in the area.

In an interview with the Leader of the Nigerian Community in Gomoa Buduburam, Emmanuel Chukuamaka Azebuake expressed concern over the shooting that caused the death of Walter Billions.

He said “the shooting was uncalled for since the deceased was not mentally sound”.

He noted that the incident has been reported to the Nigerian High Commission and the District Police Commander for investigation into the matter.

“I was able to call our Nigerian High Commission and informed them about what had happened.

“I was instructed to follow the due process of the law which is reporting to the District Police Commander, which I did”, he added.

He said that they are therefore waiting to hear from the police and Government of Ghana, to get to know what they will say about the situation.

Confirming the incident to Citi News, Kasoa District Police Commander, Superintendent Samuel Odame said the deceased, had run amok in the mate hours of Friday, July 17, 2020.

Meanwhile, tension rose Nigerian residents at Gomoa Buduburam earlier today besieged the police station in the area after the policeman shot their own to death, but they have been calm, calling for justice.
