Odamten named Berekum Chelsea Head Coach


Ghana Premier League (GPL) side Berekum Chelsea have announced the appointment of Michael Hesse Odamten as the club’s new Head Coach.

The Bibires revealed the appointment on their official twitter handle on Tuesday 13th October 2020, welcoming the former Accra Hearts of Oak player to the club he will be leading during the 2020/2021 season.


Odamten is an experienced coach who seems to have a lot of passion for youth development having stints as the as a development coach for the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) as well as a coordinator of the Aspire Dream Academy in Qatar.

He has also worked with Kasoa-based Cheetah FC as well as Scottish Premiership side  St. Mirren.

Odamten first test in the GPL will come in November as the Bibires take on Legon Cities away from home before taking on Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Golden City Park.


The 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season is expected to kick start from Friday, 13th November 2020. While the Division One League (DOL) kicks off on 3rd December 2020. The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to kick off on 2nd January 2021.

It’s been well over six months since football in Ghana was halted due to COVID-19 and with the game set to resume in November, many are anticipating for a great comeback, looking at how the annulled season was exciting.
