Senior Minister of State, Yaw Osafo Marfo has tested positive for the novel virus, after blood samples were taken.
This was announced by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, during a press briefing today, to update Ghanaians on measures taken to manage the virus.
Kojo Oppong-nkrumah said that the Senior Minister is positive, after samples were taken, adding that he was receiving treatment from home.
He said “As of today, July 7, 2020, he will commence treatment for COVID-19 from home, and in consonance with the transparency that wea re bringing to Ghanaians, he has instructed that we inform the general public accordingly”.
The Information Minister however noted that President Akuffo Addo who is on self-isolation, has been conductung government business via technology.
The President has since Saturday, July 4, 2020, been on self-isolation after coming into close contact with a person who tested positive for the virus.
These were contained in a statement signed by Eugene Arhin, from the Presidency.
It said “On the advice of doctors, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, is from today, July 4, 2020, taking a 14 day precautionary self-isolation measure compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
“The President will during this precautionary self-isolation period, be working from the Jubilee House”, the statement added.
