Otiko Djaba reacts to allegation of attacking Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Wontumi


The former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba has reacted to reports going viral on the internet that, she has jabbed the governing New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi and some bigwigs for attacking the candidature of John Mahama’s Vice President Prof. Jane Opoku Agyemang.

In statement issued on 12th July 2020 and sighted by, the former Minister of state said that, her attention has been drawn to publication made on the media captioned “Otiko fires at Wontumi as ‘bushman’ for his anti-women comment”.

She said “Let me place on record that I have not published, spoken or issued any such statement about Mr Wontumi or the NPP as attributed to me” adding that, she demands an immediate retraction of the publication; and an unqualified apology for the embarrassment caused her by this false publication.

She further revealed that, she is working with her lawyers to ensure that such individuals peddling the falsehood will be brought to book.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the Minister for Communication, Mrs Ursula Owusu on Newsfile few days ago she, condemned Chairman Wontumi’s action but maintained that, it is the chairman’s personal opinion and should not be associated with the party as a whole to merit an unqualified apology as some political pundits asserts.
