President Mahama has not tested positive for COVID-19

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has implored the public to disregard social media speculation that Former President, John Dramani Mahama has contracted COVID-19.

He said President Mahama and persons in his close circle including Joyce Bawah Mogtari do not have COVID-19.

Sammy Gyamfi made this announcement today, at a press briefing at the Party’s Headquarters in Accra.

According to him, he did not want to dignify the speculation which he alleged was being spread on social media by some New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicators.

He added that he was forced to speak out because it was becoming viral, on social media.

The Communications Director mentioned that Members of Parliament representing the NDC have also not tested positive for the virus, as those were just mere speculations.

He also mentioned that the Ranking Member of the Health Committee of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and the Minority Leader, Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed had also not tested positive for the illness which has claimed over 100 lives in Ghana.

He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to adhere to safety protocols and obey directives, which seeks to manage the novel virus.
