The former President of the Republic of Ghana Jerry John Rawlings has also added his voice to the list of voltarian leaders complaining bitterly about the level of heavy military presence in the Volta and Oti region.
H.E Jerry John Rawlings has reacted vehemently to the latest developments in the area and has called on the Nana Akufo-Addo government to revisit its decision to bring life back to normal in the regions.
In a statement issued on his social media platform the former President stated that, the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions by the government coupled with heavy military presence in the area is generating fear, anxiety, panic and confusion especially amongst indigenes of the region resulting in untold challenges.
He therefore cautioned the government not to make the situation worse with overbearing and intimidating behaviour towards border dwellers whose livelihood solely depend on activities along the border.
He further advice that in the lead up to the voter registration exercise and the December general elections, it is important that a sense of fairness and justice to all citizens is strongly upheld whilst maintaining the integrity and the sanctity of the process.
Meanwhile, the Volta Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress Henry has accused the Nana Akufo-Addo led administration of playing tribal politics, nepotism and favoritism with the Voltaians in some sectors of the nation.
