Safety Tips: What To Do When You First Lodge In A Guest Room.

You might be amazed to know, though my experience in the hospitality industry didn’t leave me terrified of staying in hotels or certain that every room is covered in germs. Instead, I learned that hotels are full of great people who love ensuring that their guests have memorable stays.

I also learned a few tricks from some of our experienced guests: you could tell by the way they handled their check-in that they knew exactly what they were doing.

1. Check for hidden cameras and microphones:
It is very important to make sure no one is tracking you or want your footage for their gains. The first thing you need to do when you arrive at a guest room is to on your phone light. After that off all lights in the room and use your phone touch to search for hidden cameras. If you locate a small red light like a dot, there is a high possibility that there are cameras in the room. When you notice that, take the necessary action to make sure you are safe. You might on your phone Bluetooth to check for hidden microphones as well.
NB: Note that before you do any of these, you have done a safety check. Pay attention to what might be under the bed.

2. Do a safety check:
Whether you are travelling with a friend, a gaggle of kids, or solo, safety should be one of your top priorities. Here’s the good news: the vast majority of hotel staff members care about your safety, too. Your room is set up for your safety; all you need to do is a double check to make sure the appropriate safety measures are in place.

3. Inspect these commonly neglected areas:
The staff at most reputable hotels are trained to thoroughly clean every hotel room between guests. Hotels associated with an international chain, like Holiday Inn, are held to strict cleaning requirements to remain associated with the brand, according to an anonymous employee. Still, there is no harm in checking that everything is in tip-top shape before you get too comfortable in your room.

4. A dead body was hidden under the bed:
In as much as hotel deaths seem to be minimal or rather rare, this doesn’t mean they don’t happen but rather the truth is that they are not reported often enough

Hotel rooms have many cases of suicides, murders, assault and natural deaths but in most cases, hotel managements try as much as possible to keep them secret and will never disclose to new visitors what happened there a day or two before.

5. Bedbugs:
From local to five star hotels, bedbugs have been found in hotels all over the world from places like the Salgaa stopover to New York City and you might find some in your home away from home one day.

To make sure that you are not disturbed by these tiny but annoying creatures during your sleep or that you don’t carry them to your home once you’ve checked out, always make sure that you’ve confirmed that the hotel room in which you are spending a night is free of them
